THE HEROES

Olga "VYSOTA" Yehorova

Joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the day of the full-scale invasion, rising from clerical officer to second-class sniper. My experiences in multiple battles have inspired a documentary on the realities of war, showcasing the resilience of Ukraine. After sustaining two severe combat injuries in 2023, I feel like I have found a second wind, which has motivated me to delve into the art of movie making to share these stories.

Vladyslav "SHATYA" Shatilo

An active-duty serviceman with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, he joined the volunteer battalion 'Chernihiv' at the age of 18, serving in Luhansk Oblast. His experiences inspired a documentary on the challenges faced in the region. He served with the Azov Special Purpose Detachment from 2015 to 2019 on the Mariupol frontline and in the Svitlodarsk Bulge, where he sustained injuries that led to his discharge. After taking a brief hiatus, he found his second wind and was mobilized with the Chernihiv Border Guard Unit in February 2022, participating in the defense of Chernihiv. His story, along with others, could easily be the subject of a powerful movie making a statement about resilience in Ukraine.

Now, he is serving as a combat drone operator, finding a second wind in his life and contributing to movie making that captures the true essence of bravery.

Graduated with a gold medal from the National Guard Academy in 2015, later joining the special unit 'Omega.' He served from the onset of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine, achieving the rank of Major. After losing his leg in 2023, he found a second wind in his athletic career, becoming the Ukrainian Para Jiu-Jitsu Champion in October 2024 and a World Jiu-Jitsu silver medalist in November 2024. His inspiring journey has even attracted interest for a documentary highlighting his story and the resilience of those affected by the conflict, reflecting the spirit of movie making that celebrates triumph over adversity.
